The camp's architecture and aesthetics are thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the natural environment. Crafted using locally sourced materials and traditional techniques, the accommodation and communal areas offer a rustic yet refined charm that speaks of understated elegance. Thatch roofs and wooden decks overlook the sprawling plains, providing a panoramic view that invites the wild indoors. At night, the camp is gently lit by solar-powered lighting, creating a serene ambiance that echoes the tranquil harmony of the surrounding wilderness. Here, luxury is defined not by opulence but by authenticity and the quality of the wilderness experience.
The accommodations at Basecamp Wilderness are nothing short of a sanctuary. Each of the 12 spacious tents is a private haven designed to offer supreme comfort amidst the rugged beauty of the Mara. Large, mesh-screened windows bring the outdoors inside, allowing you to soak in the sounds and sights of the bush from the comfort of your bed. These deluxe tents are furnished with king-sized beds, fine linens, and handcrafted furniture made by local artisans, supporting both comfort and community.
The en-suite bathrooms are equipped with eco-friendly amenities, including bio-flush toilets and solar-heated showers, which provide warm water after a day of adventure. The attention to detail extends to the private verandas, each facing the Mara River, offering unobstructed views of the frolicking wildlife, particularly during the great migration when millions of wildebeest and zebras make their epic journey across the river.
For families or groups, the camp offers the 'family tent,' a spacious setup that includes an adjoining area with two single beds, perfect for children or additional guests. This arrangement ensures privacy yet keeps loved ones close, all under the canopy of the African sky.

Tripadvisor comments Basecamp Wilderness
All our basecamps were wonderful and special, but if we have to pick a favourite, this must be the one! This is safari the way you read about it in the books! It made us think about Karen Blixen and her book "Out of Africa". At Wilderness camp there are no distractions, just us, the staff and the wildlife.

We stayed at Wilderness Camp for two nights. The service was wonderful, and the staff very attentive and always gives you a genuine smile. They always do the little extra. The food is excellent (+ easely adapted the food plan to mye lactose intolerance).
